Abstract

This paper aims to identify and understand the aspects of the work of recently graduated physical education teachers in public and private schools. Research is qualitative, and two teachers from both school models participated. The data, collected from interviews and treated by Content Analysis, demonstrate convergences and divergences in the teaching work. The similarity lies on the common treatment of the body culture elements, and they demonstrated a questioning and critical viewpoint of teaching practices. On the other hand, differences in infrastructure seem to influence methodological and teaching decisions, together with the prospects in relation to their permanence in the profession and motivation in pursuing a teaching career.
