The dialogue with Selma Garrido Pimenta, Ph.D., aimed to look at methodological and theoretical issues on pedagogy as an educational science more closely and discuss consequent epistemological challenges. It also seeks to analyze aspects related to the current curricular organization of pedagogy undergraduate programs – instituted as teaching degree programs for early and primary education teacher training – based on Resolution # 01 of the Plenary Council (Brazilian acronym, PC) of Brazil’s National Council of Education (Brazilian acronym, CNE) of May 15 2006. Based on that, the researcher assesses the impacts of the National Curricular Guidelines for pedagogy undergraduate programs (Brazilian acronym, DCNP) (2006) on the disappearance of pedagogy in pedagogy undergraduate programs themselves. She ends her considerations by critically remarking on the imprecisions and risks of the current proposal of the National Common Framework for Teacher Education (2019), which reflects educational models that are utilitarian, neotechnicist and in line with the current neoliberal political agenda in Brazil.
Keywords: Epistemology of pedagogy. Pedagogy. Pedagogy undergraduate program. Pedagogue education.
