25 years of Brazilian Curricula Guidelines of Ethics

This article deals with the problem of teaching/learning Ethics in Brazilian school. Concerning the importance of issue number 8 of Brazilian Curricula Guidelines of Ethics (BRASIL, 1997), which are exactly 25 years old in 2022, we have decided for the analysis of this document. The objective is to identify the characteristics of the concept of Ethics in ethese Guidelines issue number 8. Paul Ricoeur’s (1990) method of interpretation of text based on hermeneutics has been used. As essential topics in the document we highlight the four pillars: Mutual Respect, Justice, Dialogue and Solidarity, which are discussed in the already quoted Guidelines. We concluded that the concept of Ethics presented in the document is not clear enough. It is necessary a deeper discussion of document.
