DIAGNÓSTICO DAS AÇÕES EXTENSIONISTAS PROMOVIDAS POR UNIVERSIDADES PÚBLICAS DO NORDESTE DO BRASIL NO COMBATE À VIOLÊNCIA CONTRA A MULHER

This paper presents a diagnosis of extensionist actions developed by public universities in
the Northeast region of Brazil. The activities of 25 (twenty-five) institutions located in the
09 (nine) states of the region were mapped, with the intention of raising some assumptions
about the guiding problem of the study: what is the panorama, contributions and scope of
extensionist actions to combat violence against women promoted by public universities in
the Northeast of Brazil? The study uses methodological tools and a mixed approach, based
on an exploratory and bibliographic research. The findings highlight the presence and social
relevance of extensionist actions present in public universities in Northeastern Brazil and the repercussion of these activities in combating violence against women. It demarcates 25
(twenty-five) higher education institutions and the different approaches developed, from
legal assistance, either to women victims of aggression or even to the resocialization of aggressors and the formative work with different subjects involved in the phenomenon. Finally,
the offer of professional training to those who work in agencies that provide assistance to
victims of violence against women and the encouragement of women's autonomy and
empowerment are observed.
