This research was the result of scientific initiation work and was designed
with the aim of understanding the definition of psychotherapy and anxiety disorder in young people (18 to 28 years old). It aimed to understand
the possible impacts that anxiety and its characteristics may have on the life of young adults. We sought to understand how psychotherapy helps young adults to gain
greater self-knowledge by helping them to think, find and practice methods internally or
externally in which they are effective for the best treatment and possible reduction of anxiety.
The possible impacts of extreme situations were also analyzed, such as the experience of isolation and uncertainty during the peak of the COVID-19 virus pandemic. This research was
carried out in two stages, the first being a bibliographical survey in databases and the second
being an analysis of data from those enrolled in the Project for Provision of Services to the
Community, at the Catholic University of Santos, during the first year of the pandemic. The
aim of the project was to offer Psychological Duty by psychologists who are master’s, doctoral
and professors - all accredited by the Federal Council of Psychology, for the practice of online
psychological care.
