OLHARES SOBRE O PATRIMÔNIO: A REALIDADE ENTRE MUROS

Abstract

This article aimed to understand the history of the community of Santa Cruz dos Navegantes,
located in the municipality of Guarujá - SP, seeking to analyze the importance of oral
history in the context of that population and to understand how the historical heritage,
called ‘Fortaleza de Santo Amaro da Barra Grande’, located in the neighborhood, could
contribute to the relationship of belonging to collective life. In the methodological route, a
qualitative research was carried out, through a bibliographic survey, which aimed to reflect
and articulate with the information found through interviews with residents. It was found
that the residents did not establish a relationship of belonging with the monument, not
understanding the social, cultural and economic potential that the construction has for the
neighborhood. It is concluded that this issue is mainly due to the lack of investment by the
government, which does not allocate the necessary resources to carry out improvements in
the community. The result of this research was the creation of a website to expand the protagonism
and voice of the inhabitants of the Santa Cruz dos Navegantes neighborhood. The
research, in addition to providing interesting aspects about the heritage and the established
relationships of belonging, enabled the construction of bonds, permeated in the exchange
of stories between the researcher and the residents.
