Abstract

The teaching that takes place in Brazilian schools is based on coloniality,
that is, it reflects a unique notion of thought and experience based on the knowledge of whiteness. In this article we will discuss the possibility of a decolonial
teaching, with theoretical contributions from the modernity/coloniality group ,
from black authors and other scholars who discuss this perspective in history
teaching. Thus, we consider that there is a lack of preparation in teacher training
in relation to the theme and the discussions about the teaching and learning of
History in a decolonial perspective allow the construction of a counter-hegemonic
teaching, enabling the awareness of parts of the students in terms of power
relations and historically structured processes of domination and subalternity.
