Abstract

Human rights are the purpose of the contemporary state. With globalization and the inequalities it has caused, human rights have been reduced within national states. On the other hand, at the international level, with globalization and the international cooperation mechanisms it includes, these rights have been universalized, in other words, a global agenda has been built up on these rights. However, with the counter-movement of globalization, i.e. de-globalization, these rights are undergoing new transformations. The general aim of this article is therefore to analyse human rights in the face of the two movements, globalization and deglobalization, and specifically to analyse the effects on human rights in both contexts, in order to understand how and to what extent deglobalization has an impact on these rights, in order to understand in which of the scenarios - globalization and deglobalization - human rights have more or less favourable conditions to prosper and establish themselves. To this end, the deductive method and bibliographical research are used, as this is explanatory research, taking the relationship between law and politics as a starting point. In the end, the aim is to demonstrate that human rights in a context of de-globalization are threatened and may recede, thus questioning the purpose of the state itself.
