Abstract

Lack of scientific rigor, problem in methodological design, and reproducibility of science investigations compromises biomedical and health discoveries and innovations. The objective of this study was to discuss the reproducibility crisis of biomedical investigations evidencing its causes and proposing solutions to improve the quality of published articles, as well as improving the value of national and Latin American publications. The problem, which was already blunt, has worsened with the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in relation to the rapid publication policy adopted by numerous national and international journals of biomedical and health studies related to the new coronavirus and its disease. Several theoretical and practical issues are presented that need to be taught and incorporated more effectively into the curricula graduate health courses and the other knowledge fields, contributing to the improvement of the quality of scientific investigations.
